my little house has wheels on it. >> even the crete us are headed for higher ground. and several low lying back roads of flooded and it only took a foot of water to stall out this car. >> we were coming from windsor and going to the small. and we were taking the back roads by sack rosa. >> samuel and his friends said they saw the flood warning signs but tried to cross anyway. >> once we got to the water you could see the car just like smoke started coming out and they tried to turn the car off and turn it back on. didn't work. so we opened the doors and all the water just came in. >> everybody thinks they can come through it, and they don't make it. >> nicholas william, who lives nearby, said he pulled three cars out of this flooded park of west mark station road. >> when they do that to their car, what happens? >> they ruin it. costs them with $5,000 to replace the motor. >> so far the storms have done relatively little damage up hear in the north bay but the ground is pretty well saturated. and we have another wave of rain coming at us. reporting in santa rosa, i'm allen wong, abc7

and creeks filling either to their limits or unfortunately in some cases over their limits. one man tells us he watched the banks of the russian river rise to 17 feet yesterday. he was packing his belongings. this morning he's planning to head for higher ground. >> i think it will be up to here because the flood stage or the expectations at gurnville is 32 feet. >> flood signs popped up across highways and low lying back roads. some drivers ignored those warning signs, you can see, and tried to cross anyway with no luck. a windsor resident said he pulled three cars out of a flooded part of the road. the russian river, meanwhile, is expected to reach its capacity, but not surpass that throughout this weekend. but residents we've spoken with say they are focused on tomorrow. both their preparations and concerns for tomorrow's storm. reporting live in petaluma, abc7 news. >> and we see she has taken off her hood in the last half-hour so a break for folks in petaluma right now. people in the santa cruz mountains not getting a break. they are still without power and highway 9 is still shut down

thanks for join ug us. joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. we are learning more about the victim from the deadly shooting rampage on friday. president obama is headed there to help comfort the survivors. abc news reporter toman bradley has more. >> the anguish is visible everywhere. in the morning, a tearful ving git. and even "saturday night live" paid tribute to the victims. >> all is calm ♪ >> a father of one of the victims, robbie, parker describes the last time he saw his daughter. >> she said she loved me and gave me a kiss and went out the door. >> she is one of the victims the gunman targeted. all of the children first graders, six or seven years old. six adults were killed and among them a principal and psychologist, all children. >> the principal of the school was running toward the shooter to protect the students. as was the school psychologist. >> the medical examiner's grim details dealt the grieving community another blow. he says some children were shot as many as 11 times. >> this is the worst i have seen. >> we are learning more about the 20-year-old shooter who hea

with cal trans and they told us how they have 300 cameras across the bay area counties that are focused on the roadways and the bridges. a lot of the sensors in the roadways help let them know when there is a traffic situation like the truck behind me. this is what we know. gusty winds knocked over the big rig on the richmond san rafael bridge blocking both eastbound lanes. according to the chp, the truck was heading east along the midspan before 5:00 a.m. when heavy winds caused a vehicle to roll over. when the truck slammed against the rail, the driver was slammed on his side and had to crawl out of the truck's cabin. cars are now passing the scene of the crash on the roadways -- roadway's right shoulder. back live, you can see the guys have started to disassemble the drive shaft of the truck because they have to take that off before they can put the truck back over, and they were waiting for the wind to die down. no one was injured in the collision. not the driver of the truck or any other vehicle. again, we are live in the san rafael -- the richmond san rafael bridge. we are now goi

sweeney joins us live. >> reporter: we two a chance to talk to a very shaken father you can understand why when you consider a truck pick-up truck comes plowing through, you can see where i knocked didn't the fence, you can see the cardboard over the window that it went through. when it went through that window it went into the crib of 2-year-old nahla robbins. this happened 3:30 this morning. pick-up truck coming along, doesn't show a lot of signs of breaking, slams through the fence, through the wall knocks nahla on to the floor her father runs in sees his child lying there. this is how he tried to express how he felt. >> shocked right now. if something happened to my kid, i don't know how i would react, sorry man. >> reporter: understandably moved beyond words. as for the person that slammed into the wall, he tried to drive away. neighbors were having none of that they stopped him. police are glad they did, of course. now they are looking into the possibility that he is going to be hit with a drunk driving. as for nahla she was taken to the hospital. her father picked her up, looked at her,

thanks for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. we have team coverage this morning. abc7 news reporter kera clapper is live in napa where a flood warning is in effect. nick smith is live at the pier in pacifica. we will begin with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> hi, everyone. the rain is in the north bay. it has been gusting and wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour at the airport. as we look at live doppler 7hd right now we see the heavy returns up through highway 101, cloverdale and ross. all this will continue to sink southward. here we are in the southern marin county, richmond, lighter rain to the east and berkeley. not quite reaching the east bay in concord. taking you into alamo. also lafayette and light shower activity. if you are not feeling the rain, you are feeling the wind. a little bit better returns here up from south san francisco, daly city, san bruno. pretty quiet in the south bay except for morgan hill and gilroy some shower activity. winds gusting to 49 miles an hour at sfo. a wind warning in effect. and oakland, 36 miles an hour. you can see all across the bay area, sa

'm thank god that none of us got killed sitting in the car because we were sitting in car last night. >> the square, metal post that held up the covering snapped during a strong rainstorm about 3:30 in the afternoon. the fire department thinks it crashed down after a branch fro% the tree landed on top of the metal structure. gas station clerk hit the automatic shut off valve and cut electrical power to the pump. >> i heard something, a know, and i saw outside and some trees fell down, hit the canopy and the canopy broke down. >> an employee with the public works department said it appeared the canopy blue into the tree first. that will all that to get sorted out when the insurance companies get involved. the city will brace the structure before it is removed in the next day or so. abc7 news. >> air travelers are having weather related problems as they head in and out of town for the holiday. unsettled weather and scattered showers coming through the bay area brought change in wind direction this weekend. that always causes air traffic at sfo to redirect landing and takeoff landings f

were in san mateo earlier this morning, tell us how the drive is and how the new location compares. >> our drive from san mateo to los gatos was a steady pouring down rain, but it wasn't very heavy. we had the wind khial wipers on the whole time. very slick conditions on the road. but now we're here in los gatos the rain is much lighter than it was. it's moving toward the central coast. highway 17 is slick. we passed one of those electronic traffic signs and it said reduce speed. handful of cars but they are not reducing their speed but hopefully people will be careful out there. we have video from san mateo where it was deluge this morning pouring rain a, who are piston dal rain that -- horizontal rain that was making rain standing water. there was a lot of standing water. as the sun starts to rise. the light of day appears, it seems the vein disappearing. again you'll need those windshield wipers and need to keep headlights be on and be aware there will be slick conditions. nothing like the downpour we saw as early an hour ago. pulling up my "abc 7 news" app and live doppler does

weather is turning up the waves in pacifica. that's where kera is with us. good morning. >> good morning. it is windy here and it is a steady, moderate rain as we said it will only get worse as the day pro grosses. moderate right now but steady on our drive from pacifica through san francisco this morning. luckily the people who were on the roads were driving quite slowly, taking heed to the potentially dangerous conditions this morning. things right now in pacifica, the gates are supposed to be open on the pier, we saw a group of about ten crappers hoping to go cracking but they couldn't because the gates were closed. one gentlemen approached us and asked why are the gates closed? our assumption is it is a precaution because the weather will only continue to get worst. the water hasn't exceeded the seawall yet, but chance are they will. we are standing back so we won't get hit by the water. wind is coming from the south instead of the west and that could cause some problems today. but we will have the latest coming up in about 30 minutes. for now reporting live in pacifica, abc7 news. >

collection boxes on campus. good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. let's start with a quick first look at the whether with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> hi there, carolyn. good morning, everyone. >> mostly cloudy skies right now. here's a look at emeryville. due to the veil of thin, high clouds, temperatures dropped everywhere. we do a 50 in san jose, but still some 30s up in the north and east bay. the numbers range from mid-30s to around 50 under mostly cloudy skies. fog not much of a factor. once we see the clouds move out, we will see plenty of sunshine. and temperatures today warmer. in fact we are looking at mid-to upper 60s. that will keep us anywhere from five to eight degrees above the average. then tonight with mainly clear sky we will drop off early into the 50s. i'll tell you how long this little warming trend is going to last and when we will see rain arrive again in our forecast. that's coming up later. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. a prom meant charity finds themselves under attack this morning as their important holiday drive kicks into

. skies are mostly cloudy so we aren't looking at as much fog this morning. the wind shift will allow us to warm up today. we will see numbers warmer than yesterday. we will be in the mid-to upper 60s, above the advantage. tonight with a few clouds around we will keep the fog out of the bay. temperatures will be slightly up tonight and we are on our way to a couple of warmer averages. i'll tell you when the rain is coming pack all coming up. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. a famous charity under attack this morning. critics say when you drop money in the salvation army's red kettle you are supporting an organization that's anti-gay. we are joined live from u.c. berkeley where some students are raising those concerns. >> that's right, carolyn. some students say the salvation army is anti-gay so they don't want the charity on their campus and they don't want their fellow students supporting it. it's actually a push by the student senate that bans the bell ringers on the campus this holiday season. that's after they accused them of discriminating against gay and lesbians in their shelter. last
